Today, we are exploring the concept of branding and why it’s such an integral part of The BUILD Momentum Method and your business-building journey.

Here’s what you need to know about the power of investing in your personal brand early in business:

What this means is that your business’s greatest capital, or asset, is YOU and the attention you garner as its chief expert. 

So the question becomes, how do we position you in a way that helps you garner attention, stand out and become known?

But first, I want to dispel the most common myth about branding, because holding onto this definition of a brand will hamper your growth: :

A brand is far more than just a logo and its corresponding colors. 

It actually represents others’ overall impression of your business. 

Think of it as reputation management: 

It’s what people envision when they picture your brand in their minds. 
It’s the feeling they get when think of your brand. 
It’s the experience people have when they interact with your brand. 

So, how do you capture the full essence of your brand and attract the attention of your target audience and ideal clients?

1 | Strategy First

Just as a business without a plan is directionally challenged, a brand without a strategy is lost. 

This is why, in The BUILD Momentum Method, brand strategy is one of the essential five aspects of building a sustainable, profitable business.

What it is is intentional discovery, decision-making and declarations around key brand messages – as well as what, how, where, when and to whom they are communicated. 

Without this brand strategy, you miss the opportunity to stand out to your audience, you fail to develop trust and credibility, and your marketing efforts fall flat. 

Strategy first. It’s non-negotiable. 

2 | Do the Inner Work

Unpopular opinion alert: I don’t believe in competition. 

There’s only one YOU. And when you do the inner work to connect more deeply to your own gifts and talents, and develop a belief that they - and you - are enough, the idea of competition falls by the wayside.

What do you stand for? How do people experience you?

What makes you uniquely qualified to serve your clients? 

How have your life and professional experiences shaped the expert you’ve become?

What’s compelling about the way you deliver on a client promise?

Looking around the market at what other industry experts are doing won’t serve you; the inner work will – and it will reveal for you all the brilliance that makes you the one and only choice for your clients.


3 | Be noticeable

One part of building your brand is establishing a cohesive and consistent visual identity that is magnetic and gets you noticed. 

The way to do this is by designing a mark, or logo, and claiming colors, fonts and other visual elements that become recognizable to your audience, differentiate you from other brands, and establish a connection between you and those you want to call in. 

The key to being noticeable is consistency and repetition, so everything you put out into the world should follow these standards and visually represent your brand.
