How to Tackle Your Q4 Goals for 2019

You jumped into 2019 with energy and excitement about all that was possible for you. And you created a plan – like a really solid, detailed roadmap – for how you were going to realize your vision.

You had 5 big goals, to be exact.

You’ve accomplished two of them. And October just rolled in.

Don’t let your dreams fizzle now, girl!

You know that 2019 was your year to create big shifts and real impact, and there’s still time to get yourself into gear and tackle your Q4 goals for 2019.

It’s not too late.

In this blog, I’m outlining 6 steps you can take to kick things up a notch and create a powerful plan for making it all happen.

STEP 1  | GO BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD
Remember January? That time you rolled out the most beautiful plan for rocking out your business dreams and goals? Look back at the original intentions you set at the beginning of the year and get realigned with the big picture.

What was it that you had your heart and head set on accomplishing this year? What’s that one goal that stands out as the one you don’t want to leave 2019 without having tackled? The one goal that will push your business forward?

STEP 2  | PICK ONE GOAL TO FOCUS ON
Make that one thing your goal and ensure success now by defining what that looks like.

One of my goals is to host a 2020 Goal-Setting Workshop in December. This is success for that event:

  • Having 30 women around the tables

  • Each attendee has a printed productivity roadmap in hand

  • Each person walks away having fully built out 1 BIG GOAL for the new year (strategies, tactics and all)

Let’s be honest. Just because you choose ONE goal to focus on though doesn’t mean you can just drop the rest of your business. It means that you’re going to integrate what you need to do in order to check off this Q4 goal for 2019 and celebrate its completion come NYE.

STEP 3  | MAP OUT THE STRATEGIES
Achieving a big goal is easier when we break it down into bite-sized pieces (aka the strategies). What are 5-7 higher-level strategies you need to tackle this goal?

Let’s say your big goal is to add 500 subscribers to your email list. Your strategies could include things like:

  • Connect with my ICA in Facebook groups

  • Create fresh and original content on a weekly basis

  • Develop a new opt-in freebie to attract my ICA

  • Host a 5-day challenge

STEP 4  | OUTLINE THE TASKS
The next step is to take those strategies and break them down even further, so that you’re left with individual action steps that will get you to your goal – one step at a time.

Here’s what that looks like:
STRATEGY – Develop a new opt-in freebie to attract my ICA
TASKS

  • Brainstorm freebie content ideas

  • Settle on 1 idea to develop

  • Write the content for freebie #1

  • Design the downloadable version for freebie #1

  • Write content for landing page (freebie #1)

  • Design the landing page (freebie #1)

  • Connect email platform for opt-in form

  • Create a series of Facebook posts to promote freebie #1 on my business page

  • Write a blog related to the content of freebie #1 and embed a link to download the freebie

  • Post the new blog on LinkedIn

  • Go live with a power partner’s Facebook Group to share your content and link to the freebie

Most of those tasks are solely related to freebie #1, so you can see how this list of action steps that get you to increasing your subscriber count by 500 in the next 90 days can become expansive.

Don’t let that stop you. Keep powering through.

STEP 5  | TAKE AN INVENTORY OF YOUR Q4 CALENDAR
Step 5 is all about figuring out when you’re going to get all of this new work done! Given the full load you likely had covering your calendar before committing to this ONE goal, it’s going to take some maneuvering to fit it in. But you can, and you will.

Can you wake up an hour earlier?
Is there an hour in your day that you can take from something else?
Have you been “wasting” time that you can dial back into and use more productively?

If you’ve been a REL Impact fan for a while, you know that I believe every solopreneur should use time blocking to maximize productivity. So if you’re serious about fitting in your one big Q4 goal for the end 2019, I encourage you to create one that works for you.

STEP 6  | ADD THE TASKS TO YOUR CALENDAR
You know what you need to do (the tasks).
You know when you’re available to do them (calendar openings).
Now it’s time to plug and play.

There’s a lot of hype about Q4 goals for 2019 (especially with the end of the decade!) and the pressure we put on ourselves to wrap up strong. It’s true that the finish line is within sight… and it’s also true that you have plenty of time to squeeze in one more big goal to give you that feeling of tremendous accomplishment come December 31st.

Afterall, success breeds success. So a strong finish puts you in place for a strong start to 2020.
