Get out your noise makers and champagne glasses! The new year is around the corner and it’s practically time to celebrate!

This is the perfect time of the year to look back at 2018 and reflect, but it’s also the time of year that we’re feeling that familiar sense of motivation to change… for the better. I’ve put together a list of productivity tips to kick of 2019 as the new, more productive you!

1 | Upgrade your business roadmap

It’s a new year, which means you need a new roadmap. You’ve probably already checked off some goals in 2018 and your business has grown. Creating a roadmap or business plan will help you get more clients, keep you accountable, and push you to dream bigger.

2 | Dream BIG, then dream BIGGER

With your business plan mapped out, you can start to visualize the future of your business. Think about what you want your life to look like, then push yourself to imagine the‘next level’. Continue leveling up that dream until it’s scary-exciting, because that’s what your heart truly desires.

3 | Turn those dreams into goals

Now that you know your scary-exciting dream it’s time to create S.M.A.R.T goals aka clear plans with step by step action to accomplish it. Why? Because just as Katherine Paterson said,“a dream without a plan is just a wish."

4 | New year, new schedule

If you can think of more than a handful of occasions where you could have made better use of your time, then I implore you to consider a new schedule. Try using schedule batching or time blocking to up your productivity game and win back some time!

5 | Plan for more self-care

This might be a surprising tip given that this is a productivity list for businesses, but creating time for self-care will make you more productive! When we give ourselves the love, care, and nurturing that we need, we’ll be more energetic, focused, and prepared to take on the world!

6 | Trade activity for action

Not only are activity and action different, but they’re also far from equal. Action is purpose-driven and produces a result, whereas activity is everything else that feels like you’re doing something, but doesn’t actually serve a purpose. Be strategic about what you do and it will all be action.

7 | Embrace automation

We all have long to-do lists and even more on our plates. The good news is that it’s the 21st century and there are a plethora of ways to delegate menial, repetitive tasks to the internet! Scout out the tools and systems that will save you time and make your life a breeze – like this one

8 | The 2-minute rule

There are tools, systems, and hacks to create more time for yourself, but when you’re overwhelmed with everything the day is throwing at you, this 2-minute rule will help keep your head on straight. It’s simple: if it takes 2 minutes or less, do it right now. This will keep you moving through your to-do list, which is the positive perk up you’ll need to get through those lengthier tasks.

You’ll notice this list isn’t just filled with the latest productivity tips, hacks, and trends. Working hard and smart comes from building a solid foundation for your business, making strategic long-term decisions and short-term choices, and new ways to think about your life and business.

Beyond implementing these productivity tips to make space in your life for your business goals, I encourage you to dream (and dream big!) - but don’t stop there! Turn those dreams into action so you can make 2019 your best year yet!
